For football fans

Privacy Policy

Effective October 11, 2026. This covers the Panenka iPhone app and this website.

The short version

  • No account. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising.
  • The clubs and matches you follow are kept on your phone.
  • If you turn on goal alerts, our server keeps an anonymous device token and the list of what you follow, only so it can send those alerts.

What stays on your phone

The clubs you follow, the matches you save and your settings are stored on your iPhone. The app asks for one permission: notifications, at the moment you follow something. It does not ask for your location, contacts, photos or anything else.

To show scores, the app requests football data (fixtures, results, tables, lineups) from our server. These requests contain no information about you.

Goal alerts

Alerts are optional. The first time you follow a club or save a live match, iOS asks whether Panenka may send notifications. If you say no, everything else in the app still works and nothing below is sent.

If you say yes, the app registers your phone with our server and sends:

WhatWhy
The push token Apple issues to this install of PanenkaApple needs it to deliver a notification to your phone. It is specific to Panenka on that phone and changes if you reinstall.
The clubs and matches you follow for alertsSo we know which goals, red cards and results to send you.
Your time zone and language settingSo alerts can follow your language and local time.
Whether the app is a test or App Store buildApple uses separate delivery systems for each.

Our server then creates a random device ID and a secret key that the app keeps in your iPhone's Keychain. That pair is how the app updates your follow list later. It is not linked to your Apple ID, your name or any advertising identifier, and we cannot tell who you are from it.

The text of the alerts sent to your phone is kept for 7 days so the same goal is never sent twice, then deleted automatically.

Server logs

Like most web servers, ours write a technical log of incoming requests: the IP address, the time, the address requested and the app or browser version. We use these logs to keep the service running and to block abuse, such as limiting how many requests one address can make. They are not combined with anything else and are overwritten automatically as new entries arrive. We do not keep archives of them.

Our database, including the alert records described above, is backed up on our own servers so it can be restored after a failure.

Other companies involved

We do not sell or share your data. A few companies are necessarily involved in running the service:

  • Apple distributes the app through the App Store and delivers notifications through the Apple Push Notification service. Apple's own privacy policy applies to both.
  • Cloudflare carries the connection between the app and our server, and serves this website. It processes IP addresses to do that.
  • OVHcloud provides the server our service runs on.
  • Club crests and competition logos. Some of them are loaded by the app directly from our football data provider's image server (media.api-sports.io). Like any website, that server receives your IP address and standard request details when the image is downloaded. No information about you is attached.

What we never do

  • No advertising of any kind, including betting ads.
  • No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and no third-party code that tracks you.
  • No tracking across other companies' apps or websites, and no data brokers.
  • No selling of data, ever.

Turning it off and removing your data

  • Stop alerts for a club or match: unfollow it in the app. Your follow list on our server is updated within seconds while you're online.
  • Remove your follow list from our server: unfollow everything. The server's copy is replaced with an empty list.
  • Stop all notifications: turn them off in iOS Settings → Notifications → Panenka. Alerts stop appearing, but your push token and follow list stay on our server until you unfollow everything or delete the app.
  • Delete the app: Apple then treats the push token as invalid, and our server deletes it the next time it tries to send you an alert.

What can remain after that is the random device ID with a time zone and language setting, which cannot be linked to you. Because we never learn who you are, we can't look up your device from an email; the steps above are how you remove your data. If you have a question about it, write to us anyway and we'll help.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or KVKK in Türkiye), you have rights to access, correct and delete personal data and to object to its use. Changes and contact

If we change what the app collects, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change ships. A meaningful change will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
